Eat the Cake Anna Mae! Ok, Not So Much Cake Anna Mae

I really need to stop judging people based off of small actions. However, I find it annoying when people behave like greedy horders.

I had an extra cake left over from an event so I decided to take it in to work. After everyone in my department had eaten their fill, I invited some peole from another department to have the rest of the cake.

Why did Anna Mae Bulluck, go grab like two extra slices of cake, before the others could get some. I mean like really thick 3 inches across slabs. Now don't get me wrong. I am not watching what people eat if I invite them to dinner. Eat until your head explodes for all I care. I just though this was an odd behavior - for an adult.

What does it all mean? Maybe Anna just really likes cake. *shrugs shoulders*

Not that this has anything to do with a real person, it actually does, but would you date someone 8 years your junior? Would you hang out with him? Would you go to his church if he invited you?

Just questions? No, really, would you? lol

Ramen Noodle Recipes - #1

I decided this week, I will switch things up a bit. Each day, I will post a budget recipe or tip. You may add your versions in the comments.

I know we are all familiar with Ramen Noodles. Many a college microwave have experienced the late night nuking the salty dish. I know many people who put their spin on the dish. I try to make it a bit healthier by adding some veggies.

Check this one out.

Ramen Noodles with Spinach

1 package of Ramen Noodles

1/2 cup of frozen spinach

1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper

1 tbsp of red wine vinegar

Throw all of it into a pot and boil until desired tenderness is reached. The vinegar an cayenne pepper can be added afterwards as a garnish. Delish!

Some of you may prefer to substitute the cayenne pepper and vinegar for hot sauce but the noodles are uber salty already and hot sauce just adds to the sodium content. You can create the same effect with cayenne and vinegar.

On Dieting

I was reading online about a Depression Diet. This article describes how food choices affect your mood. By changing what you eat you can positively affect your mood and improve your life.

I have noticed that when I eat candy or high sugar foods, I can get antsy, agitated, and anxious. I then notice that if I exercise or eat a salad or something light for dinner I sleep better and feel better.

I am going to stop eating sugar and refined foods for a week and report my results.

Dieting Sucks Part Deux

In part one of dieting, I ended my rant with nice footage of Cookie Monster singing my favorite food song. here.

Today, I discuss a waking moment of weakness in my diet war.

I was at a networking event on Thursday for the Diversity Leadership Forum. There were presentations, clever repartee, and dinner. The meal consisted of cajun chicken, sauteed vegetables, and some mash potato-like substance. Being in professional company, I left about half the food on my plate. Also, I knew I would have to detail all of that in my food journal. Nothing looks worse than listing a ton of food and visualizing all of the actual calories you have consumed in a day. During the key note speaker's address, dessert was served. It was strawberry cake.

The serving size was small, which is a good thing for the diet, bad thing because I'm still hungry. Afterall, I only ate half of my dinner. But the kicker comes when the wait staff, after running out of cake with half of my table served, brings out a chocolate chip cake. So the woman, who is from a financial service company, gets a HUGE slice of this white chocolate covered cake with chocolate chips.

This woman only takes about two bites of this cake. I of course, seeing her bigger more delectable cake only had a few bites of mine. I had dessert envy. At that moment, I wondered what would happen if I stuck my fork in her cake and ate a big chunk of it. Would she laugh it off, get angry, or call security?

I listened to the very longwinded speaker, sulking and sipping my iced tea. You can't serve cake to a dieting woman. Now that's just cruel.

Recipe For Salmon Dip, or Disaster?

I made salmon dip today. It truly sucks. I can't cook. I can't even stand to eat my own cooking, aside from salads and cheerios. I can scramble a mean egg, though.

A friend, who shall remain nameless, was all giddy about cooking elaborate meals. She was all like, I am getting ready for when I meet my husband, yada, yada, yada.

Bump that. When I get married, we're getting a chef. lol

For all of you who care. Here's the recipe. Perhaps you will have better luck.

1/2 lb. smoked salmon
1/2 lb. cream cheese
2 tbsp. sour cream
1 tbsp. mayonnaise
juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp. tabasco
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. dill
pinch of paprika SOURCE
